Parent Account Information
- Email address (via Clerk authentication)
- Account credentials (managed securely by Clerk)
- COPPA consent records (timestamp, IP address, consent version)
Child Profile Information
- Display name (chosen by parent, does not need to be real name)
- Avatar emoji selection
- Age group (6-8 or 9-12)
- 4-digit PIN (stored securely as a hash)
Content Created by Children
- Toy Photos: Photos of physical toys uploaded for character creation
- Story Prompts: Text descriptions of desired story adventures
- Voice Input: Optional voice recordings used for narration features
How We Use Information
All information collected is used solely for providing our storytelling service. Specifically:
- Toy photos are processed by AI to generate illustrated character versions for stories.
- Story prompts are used to generate age-appropriate stories using AI.
- Voice input is used only to provide voice narration features within the app.
- We never use children's data for advertising, marketing, or profiling purposes.
- We never sell, rent, or share children's personal information with third parties for their own use.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to power ToyTale.art. Data shared with these services is limited to what is strictly necessary to provide our features:
Anthropic (Claude AI)
Story generation and content moderation. Receives story prompts and toy descriptions. Does not receive personally identifiable information about children.
Leonardo AI
Character image generation. Receives toy photos to create illustrated character versions. Photos are processed and not retained beyond processing.
Fal.ai
Animation generation. Receives character images to create short animations. Images are processed and not retained beyond processing.
ElevenLabs
Voice narration. Receives story text to generate audio narration. No children's personal data is shared.
COPPA Compliance
ToyTale.art fully complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):
- Verifiable Parental Consent: We require verifiable parental consent before collecting any information from children under 13.
- Minimal Collection: We collect only the information necessary to provide our service.
- No Behavioral Advertising: We do not serve behavioral advertising or use children's data for marketing.
- Data Security: We use industry-standard security measures to protect all stored data.
- Data Retention: Content is retained only as long as the account is active. Parents may request deletion at any time.
Parent Rights
As a parent or legal guardian, you have the right to:
- Access: Review all personal information collected from your child through the Parent Dashboard.
- Delete: Request deletion of your child's personal information at any time. We will delete all data within 30 days of the request.
- Export: Download a copy of all data associated with your child's profile using the Data Export feature in the Parent Dashboard.
- Revoke Consent: Withdraw your consent at any time, which will result in the deletion of your child's profile and associated data.
- Restrict Collection: Refuse to permit further collection of your child's information.
